Procedures of Porcelain Crowns and Onlays
Porcelain Crowns and Onlays
While the 'main players' in the smile are important, we recognize the importance
of the 'supporting cast' in the back of the mouth. Many of our clients are
interested in upgrading old crowns or metal fillings in order to improve both the
cosmetics and health of their smile.
Large restorations which involve the structure of the tooth will be custom-made
at our laboratories with attention to detail and regard to both function and
aesthetics. A two-step process begins with preparation of the tooth, including
removal of any old restoration and hidden decay underneath. A temporary restoration
is placed as an interim while the crown or onlay is being designed. The second visit,
a few weeks later, involves bonding the restoration in place and fine-tuning the bite.
The final result is something that looks and feels like your natural tooth.
